A letter was sent by James Baker from Australia to a monastery Mashmushah on August 18, 2005
Dear Father
Excuse me for writing in English, I don't have any knowledge of Arabic. either my father Sydney William Barker when he was stationed as an officer  on the royal Flying corp. in Alexandria towards the end of the first world war. it was during a reconnaissance flight over Lebanon when his plane crashed into a hill near your Village of Kfarhouna . Though not badly hurt he was rescued and generously looked after by the villagers. Despite the lack of language he made deep friendships,  and  it was during this time that the armistice was signed. in the ensuring euphoria my father was made a present of the altar cloth from your church that was almost 100 years ago now , and the altar clothe is still in our part session , i would like to return it to you. I am including a photograph of it and copies of photo of the village. after the war my father returned to Sydney and  built  a house which he named Kfarhouna. it was where i was born in 1931. I would love to bring the altar cloth lack to you (where i feel it belongs) and meet you despite - Like my father i do not speak Arabic.

 رسالة يبعثها جايمس بايكر من أوستراليا الى دير 
 مشموشي بتاريخ 18 آب 2005 وهنا ترجمة الرسالة .
 أبت العزيز
 أعتذر لكتابتي باللغة الأنكليزية ، لأنني لا أعرف اللغة  
 العربية وكذلك والدي سيدني وليم باركر ، عندما عين 
 ضابطآ في الطيران الملكي البريطاني في الأسكندرية 
 أواخر الحرب العالمية الأولى ، ومن خلال طيران 
 أستطلاعي فوق لبنان تحطمت طائرته باصطدامها بتلة
 قرب كفرحونة وبما أن أصابته لم تكن بالغة فقد أنقذ
 وعومل بكل كرم وأحترام من سكان قريتكم كفرحونة
 ورغم النقص النقص في اللغة فقد أقام صداقات عميقة
 وكان ذلك خلال توقيع الهدنة بين الحلفاء والمحور ولا
 أنسى الهدية التي تلقاها والدي من الكنيسة وهي عبارة عن
 قطعة قماشية يعود عمرها الى حوالي 100 عام وهي لا
 تزال بحوزتنا وأرغب في اعادتها اليكم عربون وفاء ،
 مرفق في هذه الرسالة صورة عن قطعة القماش وصور
 قديمة عن قرية كفرحونة وبعض ابناء البلدة وأتسأل كم
 ولد لهؤلاء الناس الموجودين في الصور قد سمعوا لهذا ا
 لتحطم كما أخبرت أنا في طفولتي.
 بعد الحرب عاد والدي الى سيدني وبنى بيتآ في مزرعة
 أسماها كفرحونة وهناك ولدت عام 1931وأنا أحب أن     
 أتي  بهذه القطعة القماشية للمذبح لكم حيث أشعر أنها
 تخصكم وهناك موقعها الصحيح وارغب أن ألتقي بكم
 بالرغم من مانع اللغة كما فعل أبي في الماضي.
